An inflator kit is an essential tool that can help you fix a flat tire on your vehicle quickly and easily. Below you will find the steps you need to take to be prepared to use your inflator kit in an emergency situation. Always remember to use caution.

  1. Familiarize yourself with the inflator kit

Before using an inflator kit, it is essential to familiarize yourself with how it works.  Inflator kits vary per vehicle and manufacturer, so be sure to familiarize yourself with your vehicle’s specific kit. Typically each kit will contain a sealant and compressor.

  • Prepare the tire for repair

Put your vehicle into park, apply the parking break, and turn off the engine.  Remove any objects that may be stuck in the tire, such as a nail or screw.

  • Attach the inflator kit

Attach the inflator kit to the tire by connecting the compressor hose to the valve stem.  Make sure it’s tight and secure. Connect the inflator kit to the power source recommended by the manufacturer. Depending upon the kit, some require sealant to be connected to the inflator kit.  Others require that sealant be injected once the tire is inflated to the recommended pressure. Use the recommended amount of sealant for your tire size.

  • Drive the vehicle

Once you have completed the previous steps, drive the vehicle for a few miles to ensure that the sealant is distributed evenly inside the tire. Check the tire pressure again and adjust if needed.

  • Clean and maintain the inflator kit

After using the inflator kit, clean it and store it in a safe and dry place. Make sure to check the kit’s expiration date and replace when necessary.
